ACT FOR THE FUTURE
By Easyfairs
At Easyfairs, we strive to create exhibitions that are not only commercially successful, but also benefit both the planet and society. We continuously work to integrate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles into our events to reduce our climate impact and promote sustainability. By combining business opportunities with sustainability, we actively take responsibility for shaping a more sustainable and responsible future.
Our main initiatives:
To create a sustainable operation, we focus on six key areas: energy; travel & accommodation; freight & logistics; production & waste; food & food waste; and social responsibility. By actively working within these areas, we aim to reduce our environmental impact and promote social responsibility for a more sustainable future.
Energy
The venue implements energy-saving measures by using only green electricity and reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
We carefully monitor lighting, heating, and ventilation—heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)—to limit energy consumption.
The facility is equipped with LED lighting and renewable electricity. During events, the temperature is limited to 20°C. In addition, our all-in stands and all organizer areas are also fitted with LED lighting.
Travel & Accommodation
Easyfairs reduces travel-related emissions by selecting preferred accommodation partners based on sustainability criteria.
Electric vehicle charging stations and bicycle parking are available adjacent to the venue. We recommend carpooling to the event via car-sharing services. The venue is within a five-minute walk of the nearest commuter train station, and all shuttle transport from the station is operated using electric vehicles.
Freight & Logistics
Easyfairs reduces transport emissions and waste through its stand packages and selects suppliers based on sustainability criteria. These criteria are also applied in our contracting processes for transport services.
Production & Recycling
We have a strict waste management and reduction plan and limit the use of plastic at our events.
Waste is carefully sorted, and the venue is equipped with separate bins for plastic, paper, cardboard, and food waste. We use reusable carpet tiles and stand packages to significantly reduce waste from single-use products.
Our Smart Badge technology reduces paper usage for exhibitors. We offer 100% recyclable carpets and produce graphic signage using environmentally friendly materials and water-based inks. The facility uses eco-labeled cleaning products for sustainable operations and provides multiple water stations.
We also aim to eliminate single-use plastics at catering areas by working with our partners on sustainable packaging solutions.
Food & Food Waste
We apply sustainable food practices at our catering outlets by reducing food waste and donating surplus food to charity.
Our suppliers are encouraged to control portion sizes to reduce waste and to offer vegetarian and vegan options to accommodate different dietary preferences and lower environmental impact.
Food is sourced locally and follows responsible farming practices. Only MSC-certified fish and seafood are served to protect ecosystems, and Fairtrade or organic coffee and tea are offered, along with fully organic dishes.
Red meat is not served in the lunch restaurants, and ham has been replaced with turkey to support more sustainable meat consumption. In addition, we strive to eliminate single-use plastics at all catering outlets.
Social Responsibility
We strive to be an inclusive team that promotes diversity and equal opportunities for all, with sustainability as a core value in our events.
The seminar programs focus on sustainability topics, and hearing loops are available at our conferences.
We prioritize local suppliers and those that work with social responsibility initiatives such as gender equality, diversity, and solidarity measures. Our events also contribute to city tourism and support local restaurants and hotels.
Exhibitors
Here are some practical tips on how to make your participation more sustainable.
- Choose a reusable stand package from the organizer or design your own stand to make it as sustainable as possible. Book stand furniture through Nordic Expo Service to avoid unnecessary transport and ensure circular use.
Create reusable signage (without dates) made from recyclable materials and printed with environmentally friendly inks whenever possible. Use LED lighting and other energy-efficient equipment for your stand, and remember to switch it off at the end of the day. Avoid using carpet; if it is necessary, choose reusable carpet tiles. If you use standard carpet, make sure it is recyclable.
We ask for your support with recycling before, during, and after the exhibition. Use the recycling stations and dispose of waste in the correctly labeled containers, where plastic, paper, cardboard, and food waste are sorted separately.
- If you serve food at your stand, choose locally produced and plant-based options whenever possible, and consider offering visitors seasonal fruit and berries instead of candy.
Reduce food waste by ordering only the amount of food you actually need. From January 1, 2024, reusable alternatives must be offered. To avoid single-use plastics, we therefore encourage the use of reusable drink containers and plates, or alternatives containing no more than 15% plastic. On site, exhibitors can purchase reusable containers from Kistamässan.
If you order beverages (excluding coffee) from KM Restauranger, they are served in reusable polycarbonate glasses. These are treated as glassware, and you will be charged the full price for any items not returned.
You are welcome to bring your own reusable mug and bottle to refill with water and coffee during the event days. Reusable mugs are also available for purchase at Kistamässan if you forget your own.
When possible, please travel by public transport or cycle/walk to Kistamässan. The nearest commuter train station is Helenelund, and the nearest metro station is Kista. If you need to travel by car, we encourage carpooling. Preferably choose a hotel within walking distance.
Take an active role in the initiatives and discussions during the event that support sustainable development within your sector. Inspire visitors by showcasing the sustainable features of your products.
Consolidate your shipments and, where possible, use transport and logistics providers that apply sustainable practices. Favor local suppliers to support the local economy and reduce transport distances. Choose suppliers that demonstrate strong environmental and social credentials.
Use our digital solutions for increased visibility that drive traffic to your stand—no brochures or printed materials are needed. Learn how to make the most of your Easy Go package and take advantage of the digital channels. Show your booking confirmation digitally on your phone upon arrival at Kistamässan; there is no need to print it.
